Alumni Relations

University Student Alumni Board (USAB)

The University Student Alumni Board is the student affiliate of the UB Alumni Association. Put simply, its goal is to promote pride in undergraduate students and life-long friendships and involvement at UB. More information about the club and many of its events can be found at www.alumni.buffalo.edu/usab.External Site Link Icon

Dodge-Bull
This event is a collaboration between the UB Alumni Association and USAB. The newly-established tournament made its debut in the fall of 2006 and will hopefully become an annual Homecoming Weekend tradition. Dodge ball has been regaining its popularity in recent years, especially since the movie Dodge ball: A True Underdog Story was released. The UB Alumni Association and USAB both hope to use this the popularity of event to maintain tradition and spirit at UB for students, faculty, and alumni alike.

J. Scott Fleming Merit Awards
This scholarship program was established in 1985 to recognize full-time undergraduate and graduate students whose leadership efforts, through extracurricular and volunteer activities, have helped to promote student involvement and enhance the student experience at UB. A panel of alumni judges pick self-nominated students. Up to four $500 scholarships are presented annually.

Oozfest
One of the largest collegiate mud volleyball tournaments in the US, this is USAB's most recognized program. Each April, nearly 1000 UB students, alumni and other community members create over 100 teams to compete in the program. Keep your eyes open in April for ads promoting this outrageous and fun event. If you are interested in finding out more, contact 103 Center for Tomorrow or call 716-645-3312 ext. 233.

Socials and Outreaches
USAB also engages students in meaningful community service to develop and strengthen a connection with the University and the greater community. Through such past outreaches as collecting canned goods on Halloween, volunteering at soup kitchens and creating valentines for hospitalized children USAB maintains an important relationship with the Buffalo community. Socials are events where all USAB members get together to relax and have fun. Popular socials include go-karting and snow tubing.
