  1. The Executive Branch
    • Become President, Vice-President, Treasurer or more while gaining valuable experience and help finance your education. Stop by 350 Student Union for information on how to become involved in this branch of the Undergraduate Student Government.
  2. The Legislative Branch
    • The Assembly The ideal pursuit for students who are interested in getting involved in student government but cannot commit to the 30-40 hours per week that the executive officers put in. All it takes to join are 40 signatures on a petition available in 350 Student Union at the beginning of the fall semester and due back in the middle of September. The Assembly holds monthly meetings to pass legislative action, helps to prioritize SA's agenda, and approves certain presidential appointments.
    • The Senate The Senate is comprised of 24 members, 12 of whom are elected-four commuters, four on-campus residents, and four temporary off-campus students. The Senate's main responsibility is to approve the budget. If you want more say in the way SA spends its $1.8 million, you should think about running. Elections traditionally take place the last week of September.
  3. The Judicial Branch
    • The Student-Wide Judiciary (SWJ) The Student Wide Judiciary is SA's answer to a jury of your peers. Student justices, not residence hall directors, have the final say in the sentencing of students for on-campus infractions. Students are brought before a court comprised of 21 justices and alternates who run the trial and abide by a strict code of laws and procedure. The SA President appoints all undergraduate justices. If you want to get involved, contact the SA office (645-2950).
